ABOUT ME:

Hi! I'm Luis David Llense (curiously pronounced like "Lens"). You can also call me "Louie D."

I'm a freelance cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer and an all-around fine artist. My work is heavily influenced by my love for traditional 2D animation. You'll know what I'm talking about once you take a peek at my Portfolio.

Besides making 'toons, I'm also into more of the 'serious' stuff like designing logos for companies and providing web design services for individuals (good times!).

My fine art can span from the popular "lowbrow" to the highly cultivated (albeit clever), and they have exhibited in a handful of galleries, including Pink Ghost, Hidden Gallery and Bear & Bird.

I've also participated in the World Animation Celebration in Pasadena, California (1998) having been enlisted as one of the 2,000 students striving to complete a feature-length animated film in one day (World Animation Marathon, Feb. 16th, 1998 - hailed a success!). My illustrations and cartoon characters have been featured in print, such as the world-wide publication, Animation Magazine (Aug. 2003, p. 48; Aug. 2004, p. 30).

My areas of study back in high school were T.V. Production and Graphics Art (1994-1998). Then I went off to get my Bachelors Degree of Science in Media Arts & Animation at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale (graduated 2003).

Somehow I got stuck living in sunny South Florida, where I reside, along with my girlfriend (also a [crazy] artist), close to the downtown/beach area of the "Venice of America," a.k.a. City of Fort Lauderdale. Together we have built a home studio where we constantly draw, paint and have fun producing art and animation projects all year long.

My hobbies include collecting world money (otherwise known as "numismatics"), playing the piano (classically trained - can't shake it off no matter how hard I try) and, of course, playing vintage video games (NES rocks hard on MIDI!).

Besides drawing, I do countless other sporting activities to keep in good shape, like raquetball, kendo and taking long, intrepid hiking trips through precarious rugged terrain. On top of it, bewteen my girlfriend and I, we have to feed three ferocious felines and one angry Japanese garden. That gets us pretty busy during our free time when we're not catching up on freelance jobs and personal projects alike.

If you're interested in my work and wish to hire me as an animator, designer or illustrator (see "My Services"), just drop me a line anytime and I'll try my best to get back to you as soon as possible (also see "Contact Me").

Thank you for visiting my online digital portfolio. Remember, you can also 'keep' some of my work by purchasing any number of items available at My Store.

All the best,

- Louie D.
